Addis Ababa - Debre Markos
Drive north through the Ethiopian Highlands. Visit Debre Libanos Monastery, founded by Saint Tekle Haymanot in the 13th century, continue to the Portuguese Bridge, and enjoy views of the Jemma River Gorge before crossing the Blue Nile Gorge en route to Debre Markos.

Debre Markos - Bahir Dar
Continue to Bahir Dar, one of Ethiopia's attractive lakeside cities. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing walk through the city and local markets. In the evening, head to Bezawit Hill for sunset views over Lake Tana and the Blue Nile.

Lake Tana Monasteries
Take a full-day boat excursion on Lake Tana, Ethiopia's largest lake and the source of the Blue Nile. Visit the monasteries of the Zege Peninsula, including Ura Kidane Mihret, renowned for murals and religious treasures. Observe local fishermen, birdlife, and perhaps hippos along the shoreline.

Blue Nile Falls - Gondar
